ZenMate is a no logs privacy oriented VPN provider with 3600 ultra high speed (1000 Mbps) VPN servers optimized for streaming. ZenMate Premium VPN service is very much different from their free browser extensions and should not be confused. ZenMate Premium offers a number of advanced security features, while free ZenMate subscription is a limited version of browser extensions for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, SRWare Iron, Chromium, Yandex, Comodo Dragon.

ZenMate Windows VPN app ZenMate Premium software is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. ZenMate apps have excellent design and usability – it takes about 2 seconds to disconnect from one VPN server and connect to another which is extremely fast! Additionally, ZenMate gigabit (1000Mb/s) infrastructure is very well optimized for streaming and gaming since it provides low ping times and virtually eliminates lag. Connecting from Europe to US VPN servers (6,000 miles distance) results in <100ms ping, for instance.

For maximum protection ZenMate Premium software has a build-in malware blocking, tracking protection, Anti-TCP/IP Fingerprinting features that provide greater security by preventing websites from tracking you or identifying the devices you connect from. ZenMate EverSecure is a Kill Switch feature that ensures no data is leaked when the Internet connection is unstable. Additionally, even though ZenMate technically does not have a “prevent IP leaks” checkbox in their software, the infrastructure is airtight in terms of security – no IPv6 leaks, no DNS leaks, no WebRTC leaks, even when the servers are being switched (which happens super fast).

ZenMate Netflix Since Netflix started blocking VPN services, ZenMate temporarily experienced some issues as their servers were blacklisted. But ZenMate quickly found a workaround and ZenMate users can now access Netflix USA and Netflix UK catalogues. If for some reason US Netflix still shows a proxy error, try disconnecting and reconnecting again to get a new IP address.

Additionally, ZenMate Smart Locations allows clients to setup VPN to automatically connect to a location when visiting a website that requires that location. Meaning that while your main VPN choice might be UK, you can setup VPN to automatically switch to US while visiting Netflix.com, for instance. It can also function similar to a split tunneling feature where you can select which websites to deactivate ZenMate on.

ZenMate iPhone app ZenMate iOS app is especially convenient since it’s using highly secure and energy efficient IPsec/IKEv2 protocol which is a much better alternative to OpenVPN (for mobile users). IKEv2 is based on IPsec and has been recently fully integrated by Apple into both Mac OS X and iOS 8+. Thus, ZenMate is not only a recommended choice for desktop users, but also one of Best VPN Providers for iPhone.

ZenMate apps are truly efficient and reliable. Instead of using a standard 256-bit SSL encryption, ZenMate decided to go for 128-bit that allows for a much better performance with no practical disadvantages in terms of security. In other words, VPN providers that advertise 256-bit being more secure comparing to 128-bit are misleading their users into thinking it’s better. In reality 128-bit encryption is not only much faster, it’s also uncrackable and will remain so for quite a long time.

Even though ZenMate doesn’t openly encourage torrenting, the ports are not blocked on any of their servers and download speed is excellent on majority of ZenMate servers. Considering they are a no logs VPN provider with an excellent privacy policy, they have no means to determine which users download torrents which makes ZenMate a good choice for p2p file sharing.

ZenMate users also get free access to United States, Germany, Romania and Hong Kong servers at slower speed comparing to premium subscribers and only through browser extensions. Essentially, this means that ZenMate free VPN can only be used to access geo-restricted content via browsers and does not provide security for other data (chats, email clients, torrenting etc). ZenMate, however, offers 7 day free premium trial that gives access to all premium features for a whole week!

In conclusion, ZenMate is one of the best VPN providers on the market offering amazing lightweight software with advanced protection from various online threats and cybercrime. ZenMate VPN servers are extremely fast and reliable. ZenMate simply never disconnects! Really!

hey Crypt, was wondering if zenmate will work with the tail os and can both be loaded onto same media along with tor?
the general attitude of the tails os team is using tails os and vpns are a bit redundant except in certain cases. also as of this date are there
other alternatives to tor that are just as good if not better as i enjoy beta testing. great info here also, thnx

Hey man Good day! Just wanna ask if I switch country to another country in my zenmate client while downloading torrents reveal true IP address while changing country.
For example, I am currently using the United States server and I wanna change it to United States West. But I changed it while downloading torrents. Is it safe? Does it reveal my true IP address? Thanks for your reply 😀

Can I use zenmate when torrenting like bittorrent? is it still safe? is IPsec and IPSEC/IKEV 2 good security than Openvpn?

yes, like we mentioned in the review, ZenMate works great for torrenting and the download speed is excellent. IPsec is at least as good as OpenVPN when it comes to security. Actually OpenVPN is based on OpenSSL that constantly suffers from major hacks (https://www.openssl.org/news/vulnerabilities.html), while IPsec has no known vulnerabilities that were exploited within probably the past decade. IKEv1 (version 1) used to have issues in the past, but those were addressed with IKEv2 (version 2).

Thanks for the reply man. I’m new to these kinds of stuff so that’s why I am making sure I am safe. Can I use Zenmate and Use Tor browser at the same time? I really wanna know what’s inside the deep web and they say it’s too dangerous if you do not know anything about it so I researched a lot. And I found out that you could also be tracked even if you use Tor. If I am gonna use a vpn like zenmate, does it work? and if it works, is it safe? Thanks for the reply.

      2. CRYPTMODEApril 19, 2016

yep, you’re safe if you use ZenMate to access Tor. ZenMate doesn’t keep logs so they cannot identify what their users do and since you are assigned a new IP address, even your ISP will not know you ever connected to Tor. Since Tor browser strips most of the device identifying information, it will be SUPER hard to track you (even for the NSA).

Thanks for your reply man! Can i ask you when I don’t know about something? Can you help me out? In exchange, I could give you premium accounts that I don’t need at all. I got here is a Netflix Premium account, Spotify Premium account, Strongvpn account, zevera account. That’s all I have. Thanks for your reply! 😀

      4. CRYPTMODEApril 19, 2016

lol sure, feel free to ask without giving me anything!

      5. ROCKYApril 19, 2016

I’ve been reading a lot of reviews from any sites coz I am searching for the best VPN i got coz I got so many VPN here in my pc.
        Zenmate
        Hotspot Shield Elite
        StrongVPN
        PrivateTunnel
        Torguard

What do you think is the best?

      6. CRYPTMODEApril 19, 2016

well, see, it generally comes down to a personal choice based on what feels better. I think PrivateTunnel is a company started by OpenVPN team themselves. hotspotshield is a no because they have leaks and are not as good in general. My personal favorite is ZenMate because they have everything you need and their apps are great. But both StrongVPN and TorGuard are good too, they are just a bit different and they have some other features (while ZenMate has tracking protection):

I personally prefer IPsec over OpenVPN because it’s a much faster protocol that doesn’t have vulnerabilities and it seems to work considerably better on mobile devices, but open-source fans would disagree with me on this 🙂 In my opinion, ZenMate is the simplest of the bunch with the most lightweight apps.

And since you care about privacy, you may want to avoid US based providers:

What versions of browsers for a Mac do you support?

What versions of the Mac OS do you support?

For example Chrome will stop updating Mac version 10.7-10.8 and 10.9 ?

Browser extensions are free to download so you can test if your browser version is supported.

I was kinda skeptical at first because the review is waaaaaay too positive, but I figured I had nothing to lose because they have a free trial and I don’t have to provide payment info upfront. But yeah ZenMate really IS good! I’m impressed with how easy their Windows app is and their speeds are impressive too.

This is so true. ZenMate is unbelievably fast and their windows app is ridiculously simple. I used their trial and I really like it so far. Oh, and it’s good for torrents too.
